Giorgia Severi was born in 1984 in Ravenna, Italy.

She did study Restoration of ancient mosaic and than she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts on contemporary art. She works and lives between Italy and Australia.

Her artistic practice and research is very close to nature and the field of work is always the relationship between human beings and landscape / environment.

She works with sculpture installations and performance, big drawings / paintings / prints using pretty much natural pigments and materials respecting environment and cultures.

Giorgia Severi tries to erase the “interpretation” of the landscape working directly with plants and mountain surfaces to get shapes and feelings as they are in reality, without using a third element in between to represent as a camera, but having a performing relationship with the subject involved in the artwork. Performance are used for public works where the artist involves viewers to be part of the artwork itself as she did for RESTORING THE WORLD where people where responsible for seeds. Now her performing is more close to realize an artwork which is the end of the performative process itself where the fiphsical and intellectual relationship with nature / environment is the body part to obtain the artworks.

Severi works on international projects and last few years she did show at 56.VENICE BIENNALE in 2015 for project COUNTRY, in collaboration with Aboriginal artists from Australia. In 2013 she did work in Italy on a big project called RESTORING THE WORLD published by ALLEMAND&C. Editor dedicated to a burnt forest. Now she is up to a new project called ANCESTORS, about mountains, vulcanos and forests / trees as our ancestors, developing big calcographies / drawings rubbing of barks and rock mountains on big wall-installations and sculptures too.
